Faith in Jesus Christ
What does it mean to have Faith in Jesus Christ?
Put yourself back in the Courtroom of God.
Jesus Christ stands up on your behalf and asks the Judge to pardon you based on His Work on the cross.
In other words, Jesus Christ did for you what you couldn’t do for yourself: He paid the debt owed to God for your sin!
You couldn’t pay that debt.
No amount of money…no amount of good deeds…no amount of religious service…nothing you could do would satisfy the Justice of God against your sin.
Jesus Christ satisfied that Justice.
Jesus Christ is the Sinless Lamb of God who took your place and became your substitute so that you could go free.
Jesus Christ literally bore your sin in His body on the Cross!
1 Peter 2:24 “Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed.”
Isaiah 53:4-5 “Surely he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted. But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed.”
Though Christ Jesus never sinned, He was treated by God just though He was you, the sinner!
He literally took your place.
He took the punishment you deserved.
When He bore your sin, the Wrath and Judgement of God fell upon Him and He cried out as recorded in Matthew 27:46, “And about the ninth hour Jesus cried with a loud voice, saying, Eli, Eli, lama sabachthani? that is to say, My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me?”
You see, God can’t look upon sin… thats’ why God turned His eyes away from Jesus Christ when He was on the Cross bearing your sin.
Isaiah 59:1-2 “Behold, the LORD’s hand is not shortened, that it cannot save; neither his ear heavy, that it cannot hear: But your iniquities have separated between you and your God, and your sins have hid his face from you, that he will not hear.”
Jesus Christ, the Sinless Lamb of God, took your place on the Cross.
Now, in the Courtroom of God, He stands waiting for you to accept what He’s done for you.
Think of it this way.
Jesus Christ rises up and asks the Judge to release you from eternal punishment and seperation.
The Judge (God) turns to you and gives you the option… He asks, “I’ve seen the evidence and Jesus Christ has in fact done what He has said he has done. I will accept His payment on your behalf. Will you accept His payment?”
The choice is your’s to make at that very moment.
