What's in this ancient Book we call the Bible and what does it have to do with my life in the here and now?
That's a good and fair question!
Though Scripture has countless truths about itself, we want to specifically deal with three attributes of this Divinely Inspired Book:
1- Light To Guide
2- Truth To Reveal
3- Power To Keep Pure
Light To Guide: Psalm 119:105 Your Word is a lamp to my feet, and a light to my path.
The Bible is comparable to a Light shining in great darkness, showing us that we don't have to live our lives "in the dark", not knowing where we're going.
Truth To Reveal: Further to this, the Bible doesn't only contain Truth...it is Truth!
John 17:17 Sanctify them through Your truth. Your Word is truth.
When we study this Great Book, we can have the assurance that what we're reading comes directly from God's own Heart, and from God comes Truth because God is Truth!
Power To Keep Pure: Not only that, but the Bible's teaching, when applied to one's life, keeps one pure! This shows it has Power!
Psalm 119:11 I have hidden Your Word in my heart, so that I might not sin against You.
